yep but they mentioned this at the volume scale place so i got confused.
does that mean area of 3 dimensional figures is also a^2:b^2 or...

Regardless of whether the object mentioned is a physical shape (like a cube or not), as long as we make mention of an area, we use the area scale. The condition is that both shapes or objects have to be geometrically similar.

So if we are talking about two similar cones, for example, if we are comparing things like curved surface area, then yes, we use the area scale, and if we are comparing things like mass, then we use the volume scale.
