One "group" of coins
= 3 pieces of 20c coins and 2 pieces of 50c coins

Difference in value of 20c coins and 50c coins in one "group"
= 2 x 50 - 3 x 20
= 40c

Number of "groups" of coins
= 3800 divided by 40
= 95

So, there are 95 groups of coins.

There must have been 95 x 3 = 285 pieces of 20c coins and 95 x 2 = 190 pieces of 50c coins in the piggy bank.

Total value
= 285 x 20 + 190 x 50
= 15 200 c
= $152
