I need help in algebra

Jane is 4 years older than Josh, or "x + 4".
Their mother is five times as old as Josh, or "5x".
Jane is one third their father's age, so their father is three times Jane's age, or "3 (x + 4)".
Their total age
= Josh + Jane + Mother + Father
= x + (x + 4) + 5x + 3 (x + 4)
= x + x + 4 + 5x + 3x + 12
= x + x + 5x + 3x + 4 + 12
= 10x + 16
Since their total age is 106,
10x + 16 = 106
10x = 106 - 16 = 90
x = 9
So, Jane is 13 years old and the mother is 45 years old.
The mother was 32 years old when Jane was born.

As for algebra, don't treat it as a new thing and be worried about it :)
Algebra is just numbers that are in forms of alphabets since the numbers are unknown. Hence always try to think of it as numbers/replace them as numbers to understand them better!
