Find the area of the semicircle on the left, and the area of the quadrant. Subtracting the semicircle from the quadrant gives you the area of E and a white portion.

Similarly, subtracting the area of the quadrant from the square give the area of F and a white portion. Notice that the white portion is the same for both areas.

Therefore to find the area of the difference of E and F, just subtract these two areas. The areas of the white portions will cancel out, leaving the difference in E and F.
