14 boys at the start and 7 girls at the start.

After 4 boys left the place, there are 10 boys and 7 girls.

Total number of people
= 10 + 7
= 17

Fraction of boys
= 10 out of 17
= 10/17

In this case, we cannot use 10/21 because the number of people at the end is no longer 21.
