Area of circle

= πr²

= 22/7 x 7cm x 7cm
= 22cm x 7cm
= 154cm²

The two shapes share the same unshaded part.

Area of circle = area of the unshaded part + area of its 4 shaded sections

Area of square = area of the unshaded part + area of its 4 shaded corners

Since all the shaded parts have equal areas,

Area of 1 shaded corner = area of 1 shaded section

So Area of 4 shaded corners = area of 4 shaded sections

This means :

Area of circle

= area of the unshaded part + area of its 4 shaded sections

= area of the unshaded part + area of the 4 shaded corners

= Area of square

So area of square = 154cm²
