Volume of big cube

= Volume of 5 cuboids
= 675cm³ x 5
= 3375cm³

3375cm³ = 15cm x 15cm x 15cm
(Or ³√3375 = 15)

So the cube has sides of 15cm

Height of 1 cube = 15cm ÷ 5 = 3cm

So now you know each cuboid has length and width of 15cm and height 3cm.

Area of top and bottom face
2 x 15cm x 15cm = 450cm²

Area of side faces
= 2 x 15cm x 3cm = 90cm²

Area of front and back face
= 2 x 15cm x 3cm = 90cm²

(Realise that the side faces and front and back faces are identical in area as they are all identical rectangles with same length and width)

Total area of 1 cuboid that is painted

= 90cm² + 90cm² + 450cm²
= 630cm²
