Tip : make their denominator the same first.

Then compare the numerator. Since they are equally spaced apart, their numerators should be at least 2 units apart from each other, such that the numerator of X is 1 unit apart from both of them.

Keep changing the denominator until you achieve this.

So for 5/9 and 2/3,

2/3 = 6/9

The difference between 6/9 and 5/9 is 1/9

So the numerators are only 1 apart. That's not enough.

Change the denominator again.

6/9 = 12/18
5/9 = 10/18

The difference between 12/18 and 10/18 = 2/18. Now the numerators are 2 apart

So the numerator of the middle value is 10 + 1 = 11 (or 12 - 1) = 11

The middle value is the fraction 11/18
