Mrs Lee is 12m years old.

She is four times as old as her son, who must have an age of 3m years old, because 12m divided into four equal parts is 3m each.

Their age difference is 9m, which must always remain the same even as they age.

So, when the son is 24 years old, Mrs Lee must be 9m years older.

For an age of 24 + 9m.

Kenji, you should apply the usual techniques which you have always learnt - that is, constant age differences never change. This time, it is simply put in an algebraic context, so your final answer may not be a full number at all. But the workings remain very similar.

Not a good method. Primary 6 students have only learnt the most basic of algebra and will not be able to handle the system of simultaneous equations which you have provided.
