The powers you must remember are -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3.
At least remember them for the positive values of a first.
This is how I tell my students to remember.
Powers -2 and -1 are “disjoint” graphs because their graphs are disconnected at the y-axis.
Powers 0 and 1 are “straight line” graphs.
Powers 2 and 3 are “curves”.
