for standard Simpson's rule, the no. of segments must be even. however, with interval size of 1, the no. of segments is odd, so possible mistake in the question.

to use interval size of 1, we use other methods for the remaining odd segment.

by the way, your teacher is asking you to do this question for enrichment?

the syllabus for H1 Maths specifically states that approximation using trapezium rule is excluded. Simpson's rule is not mentioned, but if trapezium rule is excluded, then Simpson's rule obviously should be excluded too.
