The mistake in your working :
It should be -38 - (-60) and not -38 - 60. You are subtracting the equation from the other.

To continue from your working,
(4x + 5y) - (15x + 5y) = -38 - (-60)
4x + 5y - 15x - 5y = -38 + 60
-11x = 22
x = 22/-11
x = -2
Since 3x + y = -12,
y = -12 - 3x
= -12 - 3(-2)
= -12 + 6
= -6
(4x + 5y) - (15x + 5y) = -38 - (-60)
4x + 5y - 15x - 5y = -38 + 60
-11x = 22
x = 22/-11
x = -2
Since 3x + y = -12,
y = -12 - 3x
= -12 - 3(-2)
= -12 + 6
= -6
