p3^q = 25 - 7 = 18 ①

p5^q = 57 - 7 = 50 ②

Divide ① by ②,

p3^q / p5^q = 18/50

3^q / 5^q = 9/25

(3/5)^q = 9/25

q = Log3/5 (9/25)

= ln(9/25) / ln(3/5)

= ln(3/5)² / ln(3/5)

= 2ln(3/5) / ln(3/5)

= 2

Alternatively,

(3/5)^q = 9/25 = (3/5)²

Since both terms now have the same base
Comparing the exponents of both terms,

q = 2

p3^q = 25 - 7 = 18 ①

Sub q = 2 into ① (or ② if you prefer)

For ① :

p(3²) = 18

p = 18/9 = 2

If you need a tutor to help you more consistently, check out an initiative called the
Temporary Academic Assistance (TAA), where students/private tutors/ teachers are volunteering their time to teach :) Don't worry it's free!
