It’s an absolute question as seen from the “only reason”.
So the answer should be no, political differences is not the only reason since nothing is ever absolute in history or social studies especially when you’ve learnt that there are many reasons for the falling out.
Therefore, your essay should include in paragraphs
1) Introduction, answer the question and say no, not the only reason because there are other reasons such as those listed in (3)&(4)
2) Discuss what has been brought up in the question; how political difference lead to the falling out
3) Another factor which lead to the falling out
4) Last factor which lead to the falling out
