M + N gives you a big triangle that is half the rectangle
Same for P + Q
The areas are the same for these 2 triangles (they are identical halves of the same rectangle)
So the total number of units must be the same for each
Same for P + Q

Once you make the units the same for the two, you can directly compare the ratios
