9x²y² - 12xy + 4 = 0

We can rewrite this as
9 * (xy)² - 12xy + 4 = 0

Let u = xy
9u² - 12u + 4 = 0

Factorising,
(3u - 2) (3u - 2) = 0
(3u - 2)² = 0

This means that

3u - 2 = 0
3u = 2
u = ⅔

Reverting back to x and y, since u = xy,

xy = ⅔
y = ⅔ divided by x
y = 2 divided by (3x)
