Shift all the other terms to the other side in order to only have the square root on one side. If the terms are just + and -, then shifting them to the other side will just have their signs changed (for part c). If for part d, there square root is multiplied with something, you divide both sides by that term.

Now you only have the square root term on the right hand side of the equation. It is important to bracket the terms on the left hand side (put everything on the left in one bracket). Then you square both sides to remove the square root.

Now if within the square root there are other terms within ( for part d, 1/c instead of c), you shift the terms so that the equation will only have the term you want on the right hand side
