first, do "cut and paste" to see if you can re-arrange the shape to another shape that is easier to calculate.

by cutting the top half of the figure into 2 quarter circles, and rearranging them at the bottom (like jigsaw puzzle), you can get a 70 cm by 35 cm rectangle which is much easier to calculate area.

note that the answer for area does not involve pi at all.

for perimeter, same idea, use a bit of cut and paste, the perimeter is equivalent to one full circle (this answer involves pi).
