look at how x changes and how y changes
x increases by 1 each time,
but y increases more and more rapidly.
this tells us that most likely, for y, there is some multiplication operation involved, rather than just simple add and substract.

note that ...
0 = 0 x 6
6 = 1 x 6
24 = 4 x 6
54 = 9 x 6
therefore y = 6 x^2

b)
y is directly proportional to the square of x
