Extend the line down from A and then draw another line to B. You get a large unshaded triangle.

Take the area of the new whole figure and minus away the 2 unshaded triangles.

Edit : alternatively, add up the smallest square area and area of the triangle (A to B then all the way down). Subtract the area of the smaller unshaded triangle from it.


Your answer should be 62 cm²
