Thee square in the middle is made of 2 overlapping small squares plus two mini squares. Draw lines to get the quadrants to show.

You'll realise each larger quadrant's radius is 6cm + 2cm = 8cm

Subtract area of smaller quadrant from larger quadrant to get 1 shaded area. Multiply by 4 to get your answer

One side of the big square = radius of 3 bigger quadrants

= 3 x (2 cm + 6cm)
= 3 x 8cm
= 24cm

Square's perimeter = 4cm x 4 = 96cm
