Imagine an increasing function; what does it mean? Means that it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Translate this to its gradient; what’s the nature of the gradient for the function to keep increasing? only when dy/dx > 0 will the function keep “climbing up”. So d/dy the function and equate it to more than 0. That’s why question asks for sets of values of x. Remember to write your answer as a set not just the inequality; { x: __(insert inequality found)___ , where x is element of a real number} write “element of” and “real number” in its notation instead of writing the words.
