Take away 38 adults first to make the number of adults the same.

38 adults' ticket cost

= 38 x $19
= $722

$2489 - $722 = $1767

So this means for the same number of children and adults, the total ticket cost is $1767

Now pair each children and adult as 1 set.

Total cost in a set = $19 + $12 = $31

Number of sets
= $1767 ÷ $31
= 57

57 sets means 57 adults and 57 children

Total number of people
= 57 x 2 + 38 (we have to add the 38 adults we took away at first as well)

= 114 + 38

= 152
