Hi Yani,

Part 1
(Unshaded) the perimeter of PTQRS
= a + b + c + a + 13
= 2a + b + c + 13

Part 2
(shaded) The perimeter of PTQ
= b + c + 13

Next the difference between perimeter of Unshaded - shaded = 16

Part 1 - Part 2 = 16
2a+b+c+13 - b-c-13 = 16
2a = 16
a = 8cm
PS or QR = 8cm

Area of rectangle PQRS = 13 x 8 = 104
