Which combination of areas can give you 45cm² ?
It's 36cm² and 9cm²
36 + 9 = 45
So the bigger square is 6cm by 6cm and the smaller one is 3cm by 3cm
Area of smaller square = 3cm x 3cm = 9cm²
Area of bigger square = 6cm x 6cm = 36cm²
36cm² + 9cm² = 45cm²
It's 36cm² and 9cm²

For the perimeter, there are 3 sides of each square that are not covered.

= 18cm + 9cm + 3cm
= 30cm

You have to analyse the figure properly to get the answer correct. I hope my workings are not too messy.
