I was afraid you’d ask because explaining it with text is incredibly hard. One way to obtain LCMs is to take the highest power of each of the prime factors from all our numbers. Since our LCM has 2^2, x doesn’t need a 2^2 because that’s from 588; the LCM has 3^2 and since 231 and 588 don’t have 3^2, it must come from x; the LCM has 7^2, which comes from 588; the LCM has 11^2 which has to come from x. Therefore, x has 3^2 and 11^2, which equals 1089.
