g(x) = g(x + 4) means that each “round” has a total x-length of 4 units.

The units repeat themselves again and again.

We work backwards to draw the negative portion.

If you have drawn y = 5 - x for the region 2 to 4, you would draw the exact same line at the same height for -2 to 0.

In other words, we draw a line joining (-2, 3) and (0, 1).
