Realise that if you add the other 2 angles in the triangle with angle a and angle b,you'll get the angle sum of 2 lines.

Sum of the other 2 angles in the triangle = 180° - 68° = 112°

(Side note : realise the outside angle equals the sum of the 2 angles. This property is known as

'exterior angle = sum of 2 interior opposite angles')

So 112° + ∠ a + ∠ b = 2 x 180°

112° + ∠ a + ∠ b = 360°

So ∠ a + ∠ b = 360° - 112° = 248°
