for this question, numerator degree is lesser than denominator degree.

… long division is required only when numerator degree is higher, or equal, to denominator degree.

numerator degree is lesser than denominator degree,
therefore long division not required.

… factorise denominator, then decompose.

since decomposed partial fractions must be equal to original expression for all values of x, we can substitute some value of x into both sides as a form of quick-check.

by substituting x=0, we get (-6/5) on both sides, therefore our answer is quite likely to be correct.

note that …
… if both side give same results,
answer is QUITE LIKELY to be correct.
… if both side give different results,
answer FOR SURE is incorrect.

to overcome the possibility that sometimes, by coincidence, both sides may give same result even when answer is incorrect, we can check by substituting with several different values of x.
