= (x + 1 - 1)/(1 + x)

= (x + 1)/(1 + x) - 1/(1 + x)

= 1 - 1/(1 + x)

2nd part is easy.
Convert - 1/(1 + x) to - (1 + x)-¹ first .

Tara, that three horizontal line symbol is just an “identical” symbol, meaning “very equal”.

It’s more or less almost no different from a regular equal sign.
