Factorise first.
25x² - 20xy + 4y² = 0
This can be rewritten in the form a² - 2ab + b²,
(5x)² - 2(5x)(2y) + (2y)² = 0
Recall that (a - b)² = a² - 2ab + b² . In this case a = 5x and b = 2y
So,
(5x - 2y)² = 0
5x - 2y = 0
5x = 2y
x/y = 2/5
3x/4y = x/y × ¾
= 2/5 x ¾
= 6/20
= 3/10
