The numerators represent Clara's units. Since Clara's number of erasers does not change , we have to make the numerators the same.

The smallest common multiple of the numerators 1 and 2 is just 2.

So we just need to change 1/2 to 2/4 by multiplying both numerator and denominator by 2.

1/2 = 2/4

Compare this to 2/5,

We can now say Clara has 2 units ,Jonathan has 5 units and Ryan has 4 units.

Ratio is 2 : 5 : 4
