86 ÷ 6 = 14 R 2
If 15 old folks, 15 × 6 = 90...
90 - 86 = 4 more pears needed.
Therefore, there are 15 old folks.

86 + 4 = 90. This will be exactly how many pears are needed to give exactly 6 pears to each of them.

To find out how many people there are,

90 divided by 6 = 15.
