There are 3 pieces of pizza. Each piece has 6 slices.

"1 2/3 has been eaten"
This means that one whole piece of pizza has been eaten.
And another 2/3 of a whole pizza is eaten. - > 2/3 x 6 = 4
[4 pieces have been eaten.]

Therefore, there is only 2 slices and a 1 whole pizza left. There are 2 + 6 =8 slices of pizza left.
