this question is a bit unusual.
for part (iv), the equation can be factorised to give 2 roots that are 2-digit whole numbers, yet the question ask for 3 s.f. (perhaps the setter is trying to test whether the student is confident of his answers)
the speed from Town A to B is found to be 45 km/h and return speed is 40 km/h. this gives time from Town A to B to be 2 h 40 min and return time is 3 h, a difference of 20 min. the answers check out correctly. Jack must be a professional racer to be able to maintain cycling speed of 45 km/h over distance of 120 km!!
