My ans is 30 boys ans 10 girls
How did you get your answer?
I'm not sure if this method are used in primary school but here is how I get the ans.
Let the no. of boys be x and no. of girls be y.
5x+3y = 180 --(1)
x + y = 40
y = 40 -x --(2)
Sub (2) into (1)
5x +3(40-x) =180
5x + 120 - 3x = 180
2x = 60
x = 30
Sub x into (2)
Y= 40 - (30)
=10
Thus, no of boys is 30 and no. of girls is 10.
