let that line be QA
QA/4 = sin θ
QA = 4 sin θ
&
QA = L + a short length
let that short length be RA , where R is perpendicular below B and R is on line QA.
RA/2 = cos θ
RA = 2 cos θ
since
QA = L + RA
L = QA - RA = 4 sin θ - 2 cos θ

u can proceed with R-formula in part (ii)
