For the shaded blocks, there are 4 boxes and 5 half boxes. This means there are a total of 5 + 4×2 = 13 half boxes = 6.5 full boxes.
Fraction of shaded = 6.5/15 = 13/30
For the area of the shaded part, just multiply the total area with the fraction.
