Make the units for blue toys the same by making the numerators the same. Determine the number of units that are not blue by taking total (denominator) minus blue toys (numerator). Then find 1 unit and then total number of units.

since number of blue cars is the same, numerator should be converted to the same number. (not the denominator since the total number of cars is different for each boy)
