If 2 story books cost 4 times as much as a magazine, then 1 story book costs 2 times as much as 1 magazine.
1 magazine = 1 unit of price
1 story book = 2 units of price
3 story books = 6 units of price
5 magazines = 5 units of price
Total = 11 units of price
11 units of price = $33
1 unit of price = $33/11 = $3
2 unts of price = $3 x 2 = $6
So, a story book costs $6 while a magazine costs $3. The total cost for a story book and a magazine is $9.
