4x² - 7x - 2 = (4x + 1)(x - 2)
let f(x) = 12x³ + ax² + bx + 2
f(-¼) = -3/16 + a/16 - b/4 + 2 = 0
=> a - 4b = -29
f(2) = 96 + 4a + 2b + 2 = 0
=> 2a + b = -49
9a = -225
a = -25
b = 1
