Will look at this by 4 am if no one else has done them yet. Double-angle rule followed by R-formula is one way.
we know
2 sin x cos x = sin 2x
&
2 cos² x = cos 2x + 1
so
4 cos² x =2 cos 2x + 2
after subst. the above,
use R formula
2 sin x cos x = sin 2x
&
2 cos² x = cos 2x + 1
so
4 cos² x =2 cos 2x + 2
after subst. the above,
use R formula
