A scale of 1:50000 means "1 cm on the map represents 50000cm = 500m = 0.5km in actual length".

Therefore "1 cm^2 on the map represents 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.25km^2 in actual area".

Therefore area of plantation on map
= 625/0.25
= 2500cm^2

Therefore length of plantation on map
= sqrt (2500)
= 50cm

Perimeter of plantation on map
= 50 x 4
= 200cm
= 2m

Convert the length ratio to area by 'squaring' it.
Then apply conversion of km^2 to cm^2.
Divide & you'll get the area on map .
