The diagonals of a square intersect at the exact centre of the square. Of course, the exact centre of the square is equally far from the two parallel sides BC and the other length (I have no name for it), so ON must be half the length of the square. So ON = 3 cm.

By the way, where is the slant height value AN? Without this, we won't be able to solve the three parts at all.
