Look at the left three tiles.

Putting two tiles on top of a tile means that the length is twice the breadth. Along the vertical line, a length and a breadth add up to 27 cm.

Let the breadth of the rectangle be 1 unit and the length of the rectangle be 2 units.

3 units = 27 cm
1 unit = 9 cm so the breadth is 9 cm.
2 units = 18 cm so the length is 18 cm.

You should get length AB = 18 cm.

The length AB is 18 cm and the path is 1980 cm.

Each 3-piece set provides a length of AB, 18 cm.

So, number of 3-piece sets needed to tile up the path
= 1980/18
= 110

Number of tiles needed
= 110 x 3
= 330
