1. Let the number of beads Nurul used be 2 units (1 unit is also possible, but then this will eventually lead to half unit).

Nurul used 2 units of beads.

2. "Melissa used 3 times as many beads as Nurul to make some bracelets"

Melissa used 6 units of beads.

3. "The number of beads Nurul had left was 12 more than what she had used"

Nurul had (2 units + 12) beads left since she used 2 units beads.

4. "She had twice as many beads left as compared to Melissa".

Melissa had half of what Nurul had left, or (1 unit + 6) beads left.

5. Let's consolidate the above.

Nurul used 2 units.
Nurul had 2 units + 12 left.
Melissa used 6 units.
Melissa had 1 unit + 6 left.

The total number of beads for these four scenarios is 11 units + 18 beads.

11 units + 18 beads = 108 beads
11 units = 90 beads

Either something is not right with the question or the "she" in "12 more than what she had used" refers to Melissa than Nurul.

Now let me repeat this with the "she" being Melissa instead.

Nurul had (6 units + 12) beads left since Melissa used 6 units beads.

4. "She had twice as many beads left as compared to Melissa".

Melissa had half of what Nurul had left, or (3 units + 6) beads left.

5. Let's consolidate the above.

Nurul used 2 units.
Nurul had 6 units + 12 left.
Melissa used 6 units.
Melissa had 3 units + 6 left.

The total number of beads for these four scenarios is 17 units + 18 beads.

17 units + 18 beads = 108 beads
17 units = 90 beads

Seems like a question fault either way.

Yeah. Question can’t be solved. Think total beads should be 106 instead of 108.

Or change Melissa’s usage of beads to “twice as many beads as Nurul”

so that my working will become

15 units + 18 beads = 108 beads

which is now solveable.

Look like this question having error. The total beads Melissa and Nurul have should be 106. Else, we cannot solve this question.
Hope this helps

Should have an error somewhere in the question since ans shouldn't have decimal place. But if only part (a) was asked, the rough working would be like that
