Hi I really don’t understand the answer for qn (ii) why the ans is -2 pls explain clearly much thx

no wonder u r confused

u wrote (in green) " ∴ the largest value of y is -2. "

the qn asks for the largest integer.

integers are numbers that do not have decimals, fractions and include the negative numbers (unlike whole numbers) .

*note:

since ur ans in (b)(i) is : y ⩽ -1⅖ ;
and -1⅖ is a rational number that is between the integers -1 & -2 ,
the largest integer cannot be -1 since y is LESS than -1⅖ .
hence, the largest integer is -2 .


*note:
an integer can be a whole number
but
a whole number may not be an integer
