This is a non-algebraic method that most P5 & P6 students should be able to understand.

1/3 of strip A stickers are hearts.
1/3 of 96 = 32
1/4 of strip B stickers are hearts.
1/4 of 96 = 24
total hearts = 32 + 24 = 56
therefore our answer is correct.
