We need to find the average of the sum of the numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, ..., 81.

There are 41 terms in the expression altogether, so there is a defined middle-positioned number (rather than two middle numbers) which is (1 + 81) / 2 = 41. Technically this is the average value of the first and last numbers of the expression if you have noticed.

So the sum of numbers is 41 x 41 = 1681.
