2/7 is the length of the string. 3/4 means 3 out of 4 parts. So we have to cut 2/7 into 4 parts each.

We make 2/7 become 4/14 because 4 can be divided by 4.

Each part is 1/14 m.

So 3 parts is 3/14 m.

A rule of thumb is the word "of" means multiply.

But to understand it, imagine a piece of cloth. Cut it into 4, and take 3.

Therefore 2/7 m, divided by 4, times 3.

Or 2/7 m, times 3, divided by 4. Same thing.

You can write it as 2/7 x 3/4.
